The start of another school year means people are on the hunt for new clubs to join. If you’re reading this article, then you’ve probably found yourself wondering if newspaper club is the right fit for you. Hopefully this will help you make an informed decision whether or not you want to become a writer for the Irish Gazette.
My name is Makena and I’m a current sophomore and writer for the school newspaper. Trust me when I say that I completely understand the fear of the unknown when it comes to a new club or activity. However, you can also trust me when I say the newspaper club is as laid back as clubs come. You can write about any (school appropriate) topic you want and there is absolutely no deadline. Whenever you finish is up to you. Also, not only is newspaper a fun after school activity, it also looks amazing on a college application. Lastly, the people involved with newspaper are super nice and help foster a fun and creative environment. You don’t even have to be a great writer to join. With the awesome community that our club has, we can help you become a better writer which is an extremely useful skill that will be needed far beyond high school. And, if that wasn’t enough for you, we have snacks and play a lot of trivia.
We can’t wait for you to become the newest member of our team!
