In today’s century we are dealing with a new modern day oppression. White supremacy, the belief that white people are superior to others because of their race. They believe that certain people don’t belong here in America. America needs to clean up there act and fight against white supremacy.

During the Civil War we ended white supremacy, but leaders in the south still continued to form groups. The most famous and known group is the Ku Klux Klan. The Ku Klux Klan was founded in 1866 by ex-Confederate soldiers and southerners who opposed reconstruction after the Civil War. The Klan mostly targeted blacks but also Catholics and Jewish. They would kill and lynched these people for not being white like there supposed to be. Though the Ku Klux Klan has eased off, there have been over thousands of new hate groups that have formed. In today’s modern times, these groups are still killing African American, Jew, and Catholics. At the African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston South Carolina there was a mass murder. They attacked African Americans at the church and killed them. The shooter Dylann Roof said his last words to the victims were “I have to do it.” “You rape our women and you’re taking over our country, you have to go.” Dylann has shocked many people’s lives, and ruined many as well.  This attack that happened in 2015 and made African American fear for their lives. Also in 2014 the Frazier Glenn Miller’s attack targeted the Jewish Community Center in Kansas. They killed three innocent lives. Also, the Jared and Amanda Miller’s attack in 2014 in Las Vegas killed five people. The attackers also killed themselves.

In America, there’s not doubt that there is diversity. We need to get used to that fact. To people who support the hate against blacks and other who are different. If you are in support of white supremacy why are you still using things that were invented by them? Such as clocks, traffic lights, dryers, lawn mowers, blood banks, etc. These and more were invented from different people, from different backgrounds. If you really despise these certain people, then don’t use there things. You’ll learn that life isn’t easy without them. If we want to make our country more modern and joyful this needs to end. So even if we are different backgrounds on the inside, on the outside we are the same on the inside.
